The upside-down mirror test

The most honest look at your face takes a minute and a mirror. It shows which parts fall forward, and those are the parts your plan works first.

A woman in her 50s bending forward over a hand mirror in her bedroom

Standing up, gravity is behind you. Bend forward and it is in front of you, pulling your face toward the floor. What moves is what has softened, and you can see it at a glance.

How to do it

  1. Stand with your back to a full-length mirror, feet apart.
  2. Bend fully from the waist and look at your face through your legs. Or bend over a hand mirror.
  3. Notice which areas fall forward: the cheeks, the jaw, under the chin.
  4. Shake your cheeks gently, then come up slowly.

What falls forward is where the exercises help most.
